Leo graduated from University of Notre Dame with two bachelor degrees, one in Civil Engineering and one in Great Books. He then went on to graduate school at the University of Texas at Austin, earning a Master's in Structural Engineering. Some years later, he attended Stanford's MBA program, where he graduated as the only student in the history of the GSB to be both Valedictorian and winner of the Arbuckle Award (the person voted by his classmates to have made the greatest contribution to the school). While at Stanford, he was Chair of the Academic Committee and founder of the Global Management Program, one of two certificate programs at the GSB.
Leo recently created the Houston Life Science Technology Entrepreneurship Institute (Holstein) which is training the next generation of biotech entrepreneurs. Holstein accepted its first fellow this year and expects to grow to more than five fellows over the next couple of years.
Leo is also very involved with KIPP, the best charter school program in the U.S. He has been leading the effort at KIPP:Houston to formulate a bold strategic growth plan.
