On-Campus Interviews
The Jones School Career Planning Center can accommodate most special scheduling needs to make your recruiting visit successful, whether you need single or multiple schedules. Please give us a call to select the best dates to hold on-campus interviews. We encourage you to make your reservation for a campus visit as soon as possible to ensure the best choice of dates. Prior to your interview dates, our office will post your job description(s) on our recruiting website. We'll collect resumes up until the deadline you set, send you the resumes for review, notify students you select, set up the schedule and provide specific tips for making your visit productive. Our office can accommodate any special scheduling needs in order to make your recruiting visit a successful experience. If you are unable to conduct a recruiting visit, please call the Career Planning Center to discuss alternative methods to meet your needs. Electronic Job Posting
Companies can post both full-time and summer internship opportunities to our students and alumni by sending a job description to post on our online recruiting system. Response is highest for listings that have detailed information such as: profile of your organization and website address; title and detailed description of job function, responsibilities and location; candidate qualifications including work experience, authorization, education, etc.; and complete contact information. If you are interested in posting a job, please contact us at 713-348-5371 or email jgscpc@rice.edu.
Receptions and Presentations
Receptions and presentations are excellent opportunities to discuss your company with interested students and faculty members. Company presentations provide a forum to highlight company goals and outline the specific functions of a department or division. Receptions, which may be held independently or in conjunction with presentations, enable company representatives to mingle with students in an informal atmosphere. We recommend these events be held approximately two weeks prior to the interview date so you may identify the students you'd like to interview. You may designate whether your presentation is open to graduating students, first -year students, or both. Unless you prefer otherwise, we require our students to dress professionally for company receptions. Most presentations are held in the Jones School building. For your presentation needs, we can provide a range of multimedia equipment. There is no charge for equipment or room rental at the Jones School. Please call the CPC at 713-348-5371 to arrange your presentation or reception.
Partios & Student Organizations
There are a variety of ways to build your company's presence at the Jones School. Employers may sponsor informal parties on Thursday evenings on the Jones Graduate School partio. These "partios" are a casual and inexpensive way to promote your organization and establish relationships with the Jones School and its students. Student organizations are an important part of the Jones Graduate School. Involvement in clubs helps you build visibility and meet students interested in specific industries and functions. The student organizations are always interested in speakers from companies as well as sponsorship for specific events. Our office can put you in touch with student leaders from any of the clubs or student organizations at the Jones School to help arrange partios or other special events.
Resume Books
Each year, the Career Planning Center publishes two resume books for prospective employers. The Rice MBA Graduates, May 2006 book, available in September, features the resumes of students scheduled to graduate in May, along with an index of their major fields of interest. The Summer 2006 MBA Internship Candidates book, containing the resumes of first-year students seeking summer employment, is available in December.
